Breschi Wins 200th as North Carolina Escapes

William Perry's goal with 6.8 seconds left gave No. 11 North Carolina a 9-8 victory over St. John's. The victory was the 200th in the career of North Carolina coach Joe Breschi, who won 92 games in 11 years at Ohio State before coming to North Carolina for the 2009 season.

Before Perry's goal, North Carolina had gone 28:45 in the second half without a goal since Timmy Kelly had scored just 1:08 into the second half to take an 8-5 lead.

St. John's scored the next three goals, tying it 8-8 on Ryan Schaeffer's goal with 7:08 remaining.

St. John's goalie Matt Hanley made a pair of saves down the stretch, but Perry scored off a tough angle from the left wing in the final seconds to send the Tar Heels to 6-0 for the season.

MacKay Lifts Vermont in Overtime

Ian MacKay scored his fourth goal of the game 25 seconds into overtime as No. 19 Vermont improved to 6-0 with an 11-10 victory over Jacksonville in a neutral site game played in Severn, Md.

Vermont's Charlie Erdmann won just 9-of-22 faceoffs in the game, but won the critical faceoff to start the overtime period with Andrew Simeon picking up the groundball. After a timeout by Vermont, MacKay, who missed last season with an injury, scored the winner.

"We were absolutely planning on putting the ball in #45's stick," said Vermont head coach Chris Feifs. "He is our offensive captain and leader and came up clutch to get his team the win."

McLean Chicquen had three goals and an assist for Jacksonville (2-4), which lost its second straight overtime game after falling to Ohio State on Sunday.
