Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Nominated For Song Of The Year At 2024 VMAs (1)

Kendrick Lamar’s latest chart-topper is up for its first award. “Not Like Us” has been nominated as Song Of The Year at the 2024 Video Music Awards.

The Drake and OVO camp diss was released on May 4, 2024, as the two rappers went back-and-forth on multiple tracks. As the penultimate song to be dropped from either side, “Not Like Us” climaxed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the Compton rapper’s first solo No. 1 since 2017’s “Humble.”

The Mustard-produced track currently sits at No. 3 on the chart dated for the week of Aug. 10. The music video itself, however, is not nominated, and the rapper nor the song appear in another category.

The full nomination list for the 2024 VMAs includes artists such as SZA, Beyoncé, and Sexyy Red. Taylor Swift leads the pack with 10 nominations, with the chance this year to continue her record-breaking streak for “Video of the Year” and become the only artist to ever consecutively three-peat, and count five wins in the category.

Closely following Swift is Post Malone with nine nominations. Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter each have six, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA both count five. Musicians including Tyla, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, and Flyana Boss are nominees for the first time.

The 2024 VMAs invites fans to vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories on the official website. The award show returns to New York, broadcasting live from UBS Arena on Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Performers are set to be announced soon. Take a look at the full list of nominees below.
